For some, the idea of a vacation that does not involve sampling the greens of a foreign golf course is unheard of. Although golf options are slim in Guadeloupe, hitting the links is a possibility.
The singular golf course in Guadeloupe goes by several different names. Golf de St-François, Golf Municipal St-François, and Golf International of Saint Francois . Whatever you call it, the facility is located on Avenue de l'Europe, across from La Cocoteraie Hotel and the Le Kalenda Resort.
Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed the 18-hole course, which sits on 6,755 yards and is a par-72. The course is situated along a lagoon, which inevitably means there will be water hazards throughout. Specifically, there are six.
Caddies are not available here, but you can rent carts and clubs. There is a clubhouse, pro shop, and English-speaking pro available, as well as a restaurant, snack bar, and bar. Guests staying at the La Cocoteraie and Golf Marine Hotel receive a 20% discount. It is recommended that you book your tee time at least two days in advance to ensure your place.
Golf de St-François is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and can be contacted by calling 590-884-187 or 590-855-790.
