Business customs and the pace of life are different the world over. Likewise, normal hours of operation vary among different countries.

Whether travelers simply want to shop for fine French fashions, or need to purchase over the counter medicine, it is important to be aware of the hours of operation in Guadeloupe. Although business days are similar to those in North America and other locations, many businesses have shorter hours and take longer lunch breaks.

Banks Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Some banks will open on Saturday mornings.

Pharmacy At least one pharmacy is open at all times in Guadeloupe.
Post Office Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Stores Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Many businesses will be open on Saturdays, but will close in the afternoon. Many will also close on Wednesday afternoons.
Stores are closed on Sundays and holidays.
Taxis The use of taxis on Sundays, holidays, and the hours between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. will incur a 40 percent surcharge.
Tourist Offices Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

While travelers can find most services that they need throughout normal business hours, businesses and stores in Guadeloupe may not stay open past the afternoon.
